This is such a great comment, thank you very much. It is great to hear that we are on the same page and that buyers like you are looking for people to relay a message that is concise and to the point, without a lot of 'Snake Oil'.

Scott, I take your type of sales guy over Ballmer anytime.
Hyper sales guys is the last thing we need right now. We need people that want to sell AND actually care about the ROI for himself and the customer. Now, each penny counts and a good sales person can make it work for himself and the customer. More work and more effective.
It crossed my mind that now bankers are completely frozen not knowing what to do, we might actually need sales persons to keep the economy rolling. Keep spending hasn't worked, stop spending will not work, period. Spending wisely and find a way for customers to make their investment (because your sell is their investment) work.
Of course, that way of selling requires much more work but if this isn't the time for it, when is?

Scott, great post!
I agree with your view on the Sequoia presentation -- after all, they are just a VC trying to save (and increase the value of) their investments, so it's understandable that they want their CEO's cutting as much as possible.
